Many love the intermediate bearded Iris for their flower arrangements. The intermediate bearded Iris is a good choice to "layer" in front of your Tall bearded Irises.

Intermediate bearded iris are those which are larger than the dwarf bearded Iris and shorter than the tall bearded Iris. This is also true for the bloom season which is from early May to the beginning of June. The height is between 40-68cm (16” and 27”)tall. The intermediate bearded or (IB) Irises are generally compact and vigorous, making them ideal subjects for the front of a border. Their season of bloom, is just after the tulips and many other spring bulbs are going over, and before the summer flowering starts, which makes them a perfect link between spring and summer. The colour range is now similar to that displayed by tall bearded iris, with the additional advantage in many cases of having what some describe as “thumb print” marks on the falls, which creates a further dimension to their beauty. Being short makes them ideal for windy sites, as they do not blow over, and will not require staking.
